Space is something were remarkably familiar with after all were always in one. But there is an astonishable amount were not aware of, things, details, colors, textures we ignore because they seem irrelevant, but the truth is that no space or environment would be what it is without dose minuscule details, each one does its job some are more interesting than others which is normal. Like the famous architect, Tadao Ando said once “Space only comes alive in correspondence with the human presence that perceives it”. This exhibition intends to represent and create those physical, emotional, and theoretical spaces that have created a distinguishing feeling or experience; every piece has been thought-out to represent a word, an individual, a feeling, a memory or all of them together towards space or a piece that is found in it.

The creation of this exhibition goes back for two years. What you will be able to see today is the representation of growth and improvement which was never considered impossible. The beginning of this process was challenging, the decisions that based the exhibition as a whole needed to be taken in the first months two years ago, when to be sincere nothing was clear about life. Because of that abstraction, the theme of space was ideal. But space was not something small enough for the time that the work would be developed in, that’s when interior design fit the glove perfectly. These two words became everything for the pieces you will be able to see, these two words became the inspiration and the argument for the gift box, mood board, spiderweb, and everything else. These two words also gave meaning to what will come next after this exhibition you are a part of now, design became the clear path of everything and make everything a lot easier.

Interior design became the common threat for all of these 7 art pieces, space, color, texture, atmosphere, appropriation, objects became concepts that are key for the understanding of every nonsense piece executed. The common thread was the path were any topic could be fixed in no matter how abstract, weird or uncomfortable it seems at first, without it each piece could be completely unlinked, and the real meaning could be anything. Different artists, architects, and interior designers were influences in these pieces, but there are four that are extremely important, the first one is Eva Hesse because of the power and meaning each of her pieces had no matter how they were presented or what she used, the second one is Wolf Vostell because of his use of common day object to create abstract and beautiful art pieces and his use of color in these, the third one is Vasili Kandinsky because of his use of geometrical shapes and solid use of colors to create masterpieces, lastly Benjamin Vandiver because of his urbane, elegant approach to design that lies in his artful orchestration of scale and texture.
ARTWORK
Through color and space

November 2018
Digital
Digital planning is a way to propose changes in spaces with previous organization and style, they don’t require physical changes and with the list and measures of the objects, anything is possible. The living room is a reinterpretation of “View of the Canal Grande with San Simeone Piccolo and Santa Lucía” and “View of the Canal Grande with Santa Lucia and Santa Maria di Nazareth”. The colors and personal touches were the two clearest characteristics of these paintings, these two characteristics are present in the living room. For the personal touch, some images describe the life of the creator of the art piece.

Intervention in benches of public space
Change can make certain spaces or objects obtain a different value in society. Public benches are not valued by the public even though they serve a very important role in society. The intervention of these benches gives meaning to this space. The colors used to represent an important aspect in the space it’s located in; in the school where they are located green means nature-wisdom, blue means liberty- water and red means love-fire, they also represent the three houses which each student and employee belongs to. All these things give meaning to the intervention done in the space, it also created an aspect of respect and responsibility towards the intervened benches from the students that used them.

Desert in a room

Wallpaper is the key to set the style of a room, it allows people to decide what the mood of the space should be. The desert and its bright red, orange, and yellow tones are used commonly in kids’ bedrooms to incorporate a theme and a color palette, this wallpaper allows that exactly. The geometric shapes represent important characteristics of the desert such as the sun, cactuses, and tipis from indigenous tribes. The green background represents life in this particular environment since it is not traditional or common, but it does exist.
Elegant and modern with a touch of BLUE.
70x50cm
January 2020
Mixed (design portfolio)
Plans, drawings, and fabric testing are the first steps taken to create a proper space that shows a coordinated structure even when space isn’t necessarily following those parameters. The use of a color pallet such as blue allow the space to be calm and peaceful, but at the same time gives a pop of color in between all the blacks/whites/greys. The drawing of the spaces chosen allow a more individualized touch to the design made of the apartment and show other ideas that printed images don’t necessarily accomplish. The arrows connect the material that will be used to the design made since it directs the reading of the piece to the viewer.

Collage
Different views on a specific space are important, a collage allows designers to use in different and unique ways space is given and the objects in it, size, color, and texture can be used in uncommon ways. The materials used to represent the wallpaper and wood are sheets found in factories that are given to the clients and these assimilate the most to the real material and texture. The frames are 3D to introduce a third pane into the art piece and because of the technique, this does not cause interference with the art piece. Also, the usually smaller accessories are bigger to represent the importance of these in rooms such as this one.
My childhood in a box
25x35x23
April 2019
Mixed (objects intervened)
An object can be various things and mean as much as a thousand objects together, the box unites three objects which when brought together describe a person and who they are. The t-shirt represents fun and laughter, the passport represents half of an identity that allowed the lifestyle and opportunities that are enjoyed, and the gift box represents joy and naivety. The wallpaper inside the box shows all the papers with trips that are memories inside the passport. Everything in it represents a childhood that shaped an individual to what they are now.
Everything changed

May 2020
Mixed over wood (yarn, pin, pant)
Over the past two months the entire world has turned upside down, everything we knew and understood as normal has completely changed. Society, politics, economics have been turned upside down. These past months have become completely uncertain, people are frightened about life itself and no one seems to have a solution which is abnormal. This piece has the purpose of reminding society the times we had to go through but at the same time create a positive remark that no matter how hard it seemed at the moment we all got through it. The graph made in yarn shows the real statistics of cases up to a certain date, there is a virus made with yarn, cardboard, and pins, lastly, there is a small poster with a phrase that personally as an artist has made me go on with life through these difficult times. The use of assorted colors and materials was intended so that people were attracted to it since it was made to put up as a painting in space. Using ordinary things found at home also represented the times we were going through and how everything had to be done from home and with what we found there.
